Are you using default values for pages? Maybe some values are not what
you need. We will see some details regarding page setup for MS Word
documents.
Using this dialog you can change page size, but not only this. There
are a few other options you can change. For instance:
- All margins, separately
- Header and footer size
- Gutter size and position - area used for binding documents
- Orientation
- Where start a new section - continuous, new page, odd or even page
- Line numbers
- Header and footer different for first page or even or odd pages.
You can start this dialog in a few ways:
- File | Page Setup... from main menu, or
- Double-click on a margin, outside of the document
- Double-click on ruler
First page of the dialog looks like this:

Here, all values are given in inches or centimeters based on your personal
options (Tools | Options...). Many settings are quite straightforward.
All settings are applied for whole document or a section. A section
is a part of a document, which could have different settings as header
or footer, margins or more. You can create a new section from main menu:
Insert | Break ... and see Section break types.
If you have some questions you can invoke help file using its icon
(question mark - "?"):

Just press it, the cursor will change and then click on a item to get
help explanation for that item.
Next page looks like this one:

Here you can change page size or you can use some custom dimensions.
Also, you can change orientation of the page, for whole document or
a section previously created.
Last page is this:

You can change headers and footers for whole document, first page or
a selected section. Also, there are some options to number all lines
of a document and to set borders.
All the time you can have a preview of the document to see how it looks.
If you don't like all these changes you can use default values any time
by pressing Default button. Changes will be saved and applied
when you close the dialog by pressing OK button.
