Using IF function
How to use IF function in MS Excel formulas.

There are situations when you need some tests in formulas. Let's use
an example to calculate some commissions. The rule is: commission
is 10% but no less than $3.00.
In this case we need to test the value to see if the commission is at
least $3.00. Our Excel document is this one:
Then make click in editable text-box under toolbar to type this formula:
=IF(A2>30,A2*0.1,3)
IF function has three parts between parenthesis: a condition, "true"
part and "false" part separated by commas:
=IF(condition,true_part,false_part)
Condition could be any other functions or comparison operations. The
result should be TRUE or FALSE. In first case is returning true_part,
otherwise is returning false_part. In our case the function
is returning 10% of A2 value if value is bigger that 30, otherwise is
returning 3 (minimum amount for commission).
After [Enter] key is pressed the document looks like this (see returned
value in B2):
Then you can apply this formula for next cells. Drag bottom-right cue
of the cell (in blue circle above), keep the left mouse pressed and
move down to next cells. When you release the mouse all new formulas
are applied and you'll see the results:
Also, you can edit this formula using the mouse and "=" button.
But as you could see is very easy just to type it directly.
